Studio-Re-Creation: “About my work”In my work, the properties of the material play a pivotal role, their physical characteristics, aswell as their immaterial qualities, like meaning and (symbolic) value. Central in my work is thetransformation of previous functional objects into iconic sculptures. I am looking for a playfulbalance between art, craftsmanship and design. The result is a range of sculptures that varyfrom site-specific installations to figurative sculptures and smaller, abstract objects. My workscan be autonomous art objects or applied design. These objects are defined by their uservalue, but once their use has become obsolete, the object no longer has a purpose. Theoriginal object is destroyed and re-created into a new shape and a new form brought to life. The materials I use are objects with a previous function or used goods like household items, from a glass to an old car, that have lost their purpose. The final work reveals the constructionand traces of the production process. I like to work according to traditional methods. Thepieces of the deconstructed materials are assembled using different craft-techniques. Foreach piece I develop and choose a different construction language that resonates with theraw material. The original object is destroyed and re-created into a new shape and a new form brought tolife. I believe that within the original object there is a new invisible identity enclosed, and thatis the kind of material I essentially work with. It is not the aesthetic properties of e.g. the caror the table. I intend to create a new form for this object, based on its invested energy and itsnew identity. My artistic practice reflects partially my education. During the first part of my art- educationin Bulgaria, the focus laid on traditional craft and techniques, like ‘goldsmith’, and ‘classical’skills, like drawing and sculpting. During the second part in the Netherlands, I haveconcentrated and refined a more conceptual working method. As a result I have developed aparticular way of working that unites different artistic and aesthetic vocabularies. This development resulted into the launch of ‘Studio Re-creation’ in 2009. Studio Re-Creationis my company, that features my artistic practice, works and other activities, like educationalprojects and lectures. Since the launch, there has been an overwhelming response andattention from the design-field. My work has been shown internationally and I had numerous

reviews in international magazines.

Studio-Re-Creation:

trasformati in sculture iconiche.

Mi piace lavorare secondo i metodi tradizionali. I pezzi dei materiali vengono destrutturati e

assemblati utilizzando diverse tecniche artigianali.
